When our keeper vanished
“When our keeper vanished.”
“Escaped, Octavio.”
This adult looked at them. Asked information.
“This keeper he escaped did he?” addressing himself to the fair headed boy.
“He escaped from us, Mister. Never fed us since. We looked everywhere. Called in the trees in the night. My brother sings Fishface’s Lament to the dark. He doesn’t come. Our keeper doesn’t come.”
Angelo closed his face with a petulant look.
