To awake from that dream
To awake from that dream in his drab bedroom was a moment he could never forget. The birth of disappointment. It remained all still in his mind’s eye as he descended the stairs for breakfast. The smells of their bodies. Rich and tasty. Wondered about himself while carried in the bus to school. Still dark outside and wet. Half lightened as the sun rose behind dull grey clouds. Dearly how he was dying to go to the city. Maybe some small part of his dream could be possible. But was it he was too young or too scared to go? Hopefully one day, he thought carried on the bus home from school, tie loosened, knees up on the seat in front. The bus followed its route out of the town through well housed countryside to arrive at the stop where he descended and walking up a short distance to the family gate, opened it and walking up the gravel path, was greeted by his mother. Oh back so soon I didn’t realise the time must put the dinner on. Up to his room to do compulsory homework. After dinner dark now he begins to look forward to bed. More good dreams? Had read somewhere cheese and cucumber make one more likely to dream during sleep. Cheese and cucumber sandwich. First stimulants.
